Paper #3: Pre-writing materials

• I feel as if before I start writing an expository paper I need to have the following items:

• A solid understanding my selected text and its effects as a stand-alone piece
• A solid understanding of why the text desires me and I desire it (more can be discovered while writing but a foundation is necessary)
• A plan for the ideas I will separate into paragraphs throughout the paper.
• Details that make the text what it is as a whole
• How the text currently affects others and the potential it has in different scenarios
• A rough idea of my final thought which will cleanly wrap up the idea of this text that I’ve been setting up.
